People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. 201c In my photography, I desire to shoot from the heart; 2019 to visualize from the same place that soul & imagination reside. By doing so, I hope to explore the inner connections and cyclical nature of all things. Through the process of creating images that share the spiritual moments of everyday life, I may succeed in demonstrating what I want images to reflect 2026that art can be life-giving, a way to give some hope back to the world."
With that intention in mind, Kathleen Thompson has caught the heart of more than a few judges. Her photographs have won numerous awards including one bestowed by the Detroit Institute of Arts (see above - Almost Spring). Another hand-colored photo (Dancemist) was chosen as a Detroit News Michigan Magazine cover shot from over 5,000 entries in their 10th annual statewide photo competition. Kathleen has exhibited her work in galleries, and her work has appeared in various publications including Shutterbug Magazine, Metropolitan Woman, Exposures Catalogue, Marianne Williamson 2019s Year of Light Calendar, and Contemporary Doll Magazine. In addition to creating fine art prints and posters, her photos have also graced the covers of CDs and book covers. I took this photograph, on June 11, 2024. I had intended to photograph "Little Sable Point Lighthouse" waited for a clear sky opportunity at the location, and the moonlight did not exist. So ... here "A serene and enchanting photo of Little Sable Point Lighthouse bathed in soft starlight". The lighthouse stands majestically above a canvas of twinkling stars, its light casting a warm glow into the darkness. The absence of moonlight makes the stars shine even brighter, sprinkling the sky with ma

The Jellyfish Nebula, IC 443, is aptly named...I can see it undulating through the ocean of space, even though it really isn't. It is believed to be the remains of a supernovae and is roughly 5,000 light years from Earth. Photo taken with a dedicated astrocamera, the ZWO 533 MC Pro air cooled camera and the iOptron RC Ritchie -Chretien Telescope. This image is about 6.5 hours of exposure time.

The Crab nebula, M1, is a beautiful supernovae that has such intricate details...I am still adding imaging time every chance I get I which will bring out even more detail over time. And as an added bonus, the woodcocks are flying at dusk in the field next to the observatory, doing their spiral mating flight and bobbing dance which is very cool to watch while getting ready to take photos of the night sky.

In January 25, I went on my first safari. The wildlife we saw, exceeded my expectations. We tracked this leopard, knicknamed Tom, the tatty eared leopard, for several miles. Eventually he stopped for a rest on the branch of a tree, just a few hundred yards away from our truck. I took numerous shots, but felt that I had really connected with him in this shot. It felt as though he was looking directly into my eyes!
